During his tenure, Carolina earned a 655-623-111-101 regular-season record (.511) and a 41-37 postseason record, winning three division titles (1998-99, 2001-02, 2005-06), two conference titles (2001-02, 2005-06) and the franchise’s only Stanley Cup (2006).

SOMETHING’S FISHY
Sebastian Aho scored the opening goal at CGY (10/22), marking the Hurricanes’ earliest goal from the start of any game this season (1:44). He has now extended his point streak to four games (10/14-10/22: 3g, 5a), tied for the longest by any Hurricanes player in 2022-23, and his eight points are tied with Andrei Svechnikov (6g, 2a) for the team lead. Aho has also scored the game-winning goal in each of Carolina’s last two wins at SJS (10/14) and SEA (10/17) after tying the franchise single-season record with nine such goals last season.

POSITIVELY 44TH STREET
Calvin de Haan scored his first goal of the season in the first period at CGY (10/22). He has now already matched his goal total from his previous stint with Carolina, as he posted 14 points (1g, 13a) in 74 games with the Hurricanes in 2018-19. De Haan scored four goals in 69 games with the Blackhawks last season, marking the second-highest single-season total in his NHL career (2016-17 with NYI: 5g in 82 GP). He also registered two hits on Saturday and ranks second among Hurricanes defensemen in that category in 2022-23 (7) behind only Brady Skjei (9).

A NOESEN IN THE SUN
Stefan Noesen tallied an assist at CGY on Saturday, extending his assist streak to three games (10/17-10/22: 4a). With an assist in a fourth consecutive game at VAN on Monday, Noesen would match his career-long assist streak (12/5/17-12/12/17: 4a). That assist streak was part of a career-long, five-game point streak (12/5/17-12/14/17: 2g, 4a) with NJD in 2017-18, when he earned a career-high 27 points (13g, 14a) in 72 games with the Devils. Noesen now ranks tied with Martin Necas (4) for second on the team in assists behind only Sebastian Aho (5) after going the previous two seasons without registering an NHL point.

STARTING STRONG
Martin Necas (3g, 4a) and Andrei Svechnikov (6g, 2a) were held without a point for the first time this season at EDM (10/20) after opening the season with four-game point streaks. Necas registered seven points (3g, 4a) and posted the fifth four-game point streak of his NHL/Hurricanes career, tying his career long. With Sebastian Aho also earning eight points (3g, 5a) through five games in 2022-23, this season marks the third time in franchise history and the first time since relocation that three players have posted at least seven points in Hartford/Carolina’s opening five games (1982-83: Ron Francis, Pierre Larouche, Risto Siltanen; 1985-86: Ron Francis, Ray Neufeld, Torrie Robertson).

MAKING SVECH HAPPEN
Andrei Svechnikov scored the first hat trick of his regular-season NHL career at EDM (10/20), and he has scored a team-high six goals in 2022-23, tied with Alex Tuch (BUF) and Valeri Nichushkin (COL) for second in the NHL behind only Steven Stamkos (TBL, 7). His six goals are also tied for the most by any player in franchise history through the first five games of any season (Kevin Dineen, 1985-86; Geoff Sanderson, 1993-94). He posted back-to-back multi-goal games against the Kraken and Oilers, accomplishing the feat for the second time in his NHL/Hurricanes career (10/26/19-10/29/19: 4g), and his five goals and six points in those two contests marked his most goals and points in any two-game span during his NHL career.

END OF THE ROAD
The Hurricanes are set to close their five-game, West Coast road trip against the Canucks on Monday. After leading all Eastern Conference teams with an .844 points percentage against the Pacific Division last season, Carolina has gone 2-1-1 (.625) against four Pacific opponents on this road trip. Since Rod Brind’Amour took over as head coach in 2018-19, the Hurricanes have now earned a 34-10-8 record (.731) against the Pacific Division (including ARI from 2018-20), which trails only TBL (34-9-3: .778) for the highest points percentage of any Eastern Conference team in those matchups.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS MEDIA NOTES

HOME COOKIN’
The Canucks bring a 24-11-6-0 all-time home record vs the Hurricanes franchise into tonight’s contest, marking their highest all-time home winning percentage (.659) against active teams (excluding Seattle, 2-0-0 in 2 GP). Since the 2000-01 NHL season, the Canucks are 12-1-0 at home vs Carolina, which also represents their highest home winning percentage (.923) during that time (excluding Seattle, 2-0-0 in 2 GP).

NOSE FOR THE NET
Bo Horvat has 18 goals in his last 24 games since March 9, 2022, ranking first in the NHL in goals per game (0.75) during that stretch. His four goals through six games played this season lead all Canucks skaters.

CLOSING IN ON 600
Currently holding a career regular season coaching record of 599-321-127, Bruce Boudreau is just one win shy of becoming the 22nd coach in NHL history and just the fifth active head coach to reach 600 regular season wins. Among coaches with 600 wins to their name, Boudreau’s .633 points percentage would rank second only to Scotty Bowman (.657).

ELIAS PETTER-CENT
Netting his third goal of the season on Oct. 18 at CBJ, Elias Pettersson registered his 100th career NHL goal, requiring the second-fewest games in Canucks history to reach the mark among players to debut with the franchise, trailing only Pavel Bure (154 GP).
• The goal also tied Pettersson with Jake Guentzel (PIT) and Brayden Point (TBL) as the ninth-fastest active player to reach 100 career goals. He also is the first player from the 2017 NHL draft class to reach the milestone.

SHORTHANDED SHOOTER
Opening the scoring with a shorthanded tally on Oct. 18 at CBJ, Bo Horvat passed Matt Cooke for sole possession of eighth-most shorthanded goals in franchise history (9), and now sits just one back of tying Ryan Kesler (10) for seventh-most. Pavel Bure holds the club record with 24 shorthanded goals.

SPENCE-TACULAR
Turning aside 29 shots in an overtime defeat on Oct. 18 at CBJ, Spencer Martin improved his record with the Canucks to 3-0-4, and now sits just one game back of tying Curt Ridley (6-0-2 in 1975.76) as the only goaltender in franchise history to earn at least a point in each of his eight starts with the team.

HOMEGROWN TALENT
Making his 137th NHL regular season appearance on Oct. 12 at EDM, Thatcher Demko gained sole possession of most games played in franchise history by a Canucks-drafted goaltender, surpassing Glen Hanlon’s mark of 136 games. Demko also currently stands just five wins away from tying Gary Smith for sixth-most wins among all goalies in Canucks history.

QUICK START
Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller combined goals for a 2-0 Canucks lead just 2:40 into the season opener on Oct. 12 at EDM, marking the fastest two goals to begin a season in franchise history, 75 seconds faster than the previous team mark (3:55 on Oct. 5 vs CGY). The goals also marked the eighth-fastest two-goal start in any game in Canucks history.
