Dereck Rodríguez optioned to Triple-A St. Paul

CLEVELAND, OH – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Ronny Henriquez from Triple-A St. Paul.

In his last five appearances, the right-hander posted a 3.86 ERA (21.0 IP, 9 ER), with four walks, 24 strikeouts and a .208 opponent batting average. The Bonao, Dominican Republic native was acquired by the Twins in a trade with the Texas Rangers during the offseason (Mitch Garver) and is currently listed as the club’s 22nd-best prospect in the system by MLB.com. He will be in uniform for this afternoon’s game in Cleveland against the Guardians and wear uniform number 70.

To make room for Henriquez on the 28-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Dereck Rodríguez to St. Paul. Rodríguez, who was in his second stint with the Twins this season, appeared in relief last night in game two of the doubleheader against Cleveland, allowing two unearned runs on three hits in 3.2 innings pitched, with one walk and two strikeouts.
