MLS Preview: Seattle Sounders FC (10-14-3) at Orlando City SC (11-10-6)

The Sounders have won four of their five MLS matches against Orlando City (D1), though the last meeting was a 2-1 win in Seattle in May 2019. Seattle has won both of its matches at Orlando City, the only team to visit the Lions more than once and win every match.

Orlando City has won three straight matches for the first time in over a year after its 2-1 victory over New York City FC on Sunday. The Lions haven’t posted four consecutive wins since a run of six victories in a row in March-May 2018.

The Sounders have lost eight of their last 12 MLS matches (W3 D1) following a 2-1 defeat at Portland on Friday. The defeat was Seattle’s 14th of the season, equaling its most defeats in a single regular season in club history (2016).

Tesho Akindele’s 96th minute winning goal against NYCFC on Sunday was the fifth time Orlando City has scored a winning goal in the 95th minute or later in MLS, more than any other team since they joined the league in 2015.

The Sounders have just one point from their last six road matches (D1 L5) following the defeat in Portland on Friday. This marks the first time since 2015 that the Sounders have collected one point in a span of six away matches.
