White Sox make four roster moves

CHICAGO – Prior to tonight’s game vs. Arizona, the Chicago White Sox made the following four roster moves:

• Placed RHP Lance Lynn on the Bereavement List;
• Placed 3B Yoán Moncada on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to August 26) with a strained left hamstring;
• Returned INF/OF Leury García from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list;
• Recalled RHP Davis Martin from Charlotte.

Lynn, 35, is 3-5 with a 5.00 ERA (43 ER/77.1 IP) and 83 strikeouts over 14 starts this season, his second with the White Sox. Over five starts in August, he has gone 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA (9 ER/29.2 IP), three walks and 34 strikeouts. Lynn must remain on the Bereavement List for a minimum of three days and not more than seven.

Moncada, 27, is batting .197/.269/.313 (58-294) with seven home runs, 40 RBI and 28 runs scored over 80 games in 2022. He suffered the injury on Thursday at Baltimore.

Martin, 25, will start tonight’s game vs. the Diamondbacks. He has made eight appearances (four starts) over seven stints with the White Sox this season, going 2-3 with a 4.25 ERA (17 ER/36.0 IP) and 26 strikeouts.

Martin won his last start in Game 2 of a doubleheader on August 9 at Kansas City, allowing one run on three hits over 5.2 IP. He is 5-5 with a 5.08 ERA (36 ER/72.2 IP) and 95 strikeouts in 16 starts this season between Charlotte and Class AA Birmingham.

García, 31, was placed on the injured list on August 17 with a lower back strain. He began his rehab assignment last night with Charlotte, going 1-4 as the designated hitter. García is hitting .212/.238/.275 (58-273) with eight doubles, three home runs, 19 RBI and 35 runs scored in 83 games this season, his 10th with the Sox.
