MLS Preview: CF Montreal Impact (14-8-4) at Chicago Fire (8-12-6)

CF Montreal won both of its matches against the Fire last season, only the second time its managed to beat Chicago multiple times in a single season (2015). the only three-match winning streak by either team in series history was a run of three Montreal wins in 2015-16.

The Fire lost for just the second time in their last seven home matches (W4 D1) on Sunday, falling, 2-0, to the New York City FC. Chicago has suffered consecutive home defeats only once since July 2021, losing to the Red Bulls and Cincinnati in April-May of this year.

CF Montreal has already set club records this year for road points (23) and road wins (7) in a single season. Montreal has won its last three away matches, the first time it’s won three straight road matches in a single season in the club’s MLS history.

The Fire have been shut out in each of their last two home matches (D1 L1). Chicago hasn’t gone three straight home matches without scoring since May-July 2009.

Kei Kamara has scored 11 regular season goals against the Fire in MLS play, tied for most against any opponent (also vs. Montreal & New England). Only Jeff Cunningham (20) and Taylor Twellman (12) have scored more regular season goals against Chicago.
