MLS Preview: Los Angeles Football Club (18-5-3) at Austin FC (14-6-6)

The visiting side has won three of the four meeting between Austin FC and LAFC, including a pair of victories by the Black and Gold at Q2 Stadium last year. LAFC is the only visiting team to win twice at Austin, with a 2-0 victory last July and a 2-1 win last September.

Austin’s recent home matches have been wild, with a total of 20 goals being scored over the last three (10 for, 10 against). Austin is the second team in MLS history to both score and concede at least three goals in three straight home matches after the Union did it so in 2014.

Despite Saturday’s loss at San Jose, LAFC is still around the pace they need to set the points record, with 57 points through 26 games. LAFC had four more at this stage when they set the record in 2019, though the Revs has one fewer point at this stage when they broke the mark last year.

Sebastian Driussi has been involved in a goal in each of his last nine games (9goals, 3 assists) and could become the seventh player in league history to record a goal contribution in 10 straight games within a single regular season.

LAFC will miss Ilie Sanchez, who is suspended after picking up two yellow cards as a sub on Saturday. So far this year, LAFC has lost all three matches in which Ilie didn’t start while boasting a a record of W18 D3 L2 when he’s named in the starting lineup.
