Dodgers place Justin Turner on IL

LOS ANGELES –The Los Angeles Dodgers placed infielder Justin Turner on the injured list with an abdominal strain, backdated to July 30.

Turner, 37, has played in 86 games this season, batting .257 (80-for-311) with 22 doubles, eight homers and 54 RBI. The Southern California native has spent the last nine seasons with the Dodgers and he has slashed .295/.375/.490 with 151 homers and 547 RBI in 1,033 career games. He has been in the Major Leagues for parts of 14 seasons with Baltimore (2009-10), New York-NL (2010-13) and Los Angeles (2014-22) and has amassed 278 doubles, 159 homers and 636 RBI in his Major League career. He was originally signed by the Dodgers as free agent on February 6, 2014.
