OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics recalled left-handed pitcher Sam Selman from Triple-A Las Vegas and reinstated infielder Jonah Bride from the 10-day injured list, the club announced today. To clear space on the roster, the A’s optioned right-handed pitcher David McKay to Las Vegas and placed first baseman/outfielder Seth Brown on the paternity list.

Selman joins the A’s for the fourth time this year and has a 4.91 ERA and .262 opponents batting average in nine relief appearances over his first three stints. He pitched three times during his most recent stay with Oakland from June 26 to July 8 and allowed two runs on five hits and a walk in 4.0 innings over three appearances. The 31-year-old left-hander is 2-0 with four saves, a 1.50 ERA and .146 opponents batting average in 18 relief appearances with Las Vegas. Selman did not allow a run or a hit in three games and 5.2 innings with the Aviators following his July 9 option from Oakland.

Bride was recalled from Las Vegas on June 14 and was hitting .220 with one RBI in 12 games when he was placed on the 10-day injured list June 28 retroactive to June 27 with a strained right shoulder. He went 7-for-22 (.318) with four runs, a double, home run, three RBI and seven walks on a seven-game rehab assignment with Las Vegas (July 13-17) and Low-A Stockton (July 22-24). Bride is hitting .316 with six home runs and 33 RBI in 52 minor league games overall.

McKay was recalled from Las Vegas on Friday and made his A’s debut yesterday, allowing a run on four hits in 2.2 innings of relief. He has a 6.75 ERA in four relief appearances overall with the A’s, Yankees and Rays and is a combined 3-0 with a save and a 3.45 in 23 relief appearances with the Aviators, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Durham.

Brown is hitting .227 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 91 games with Oakland. He is 7-for-17 (.412) with two home runs and three RBI in five games since the All-Star Break.
