Rangers recall INF Ezequiel Duran from Round Rock, place INF/OF Brad Miller on 10-day injured list

Duran will be active for Rangers’ road trip opener on Thursday afternoon in Miami

Miami, Fla. — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled infielder Ezequiel Duran from Triple-A Round Rock and placed infielder/outfielder Brad Miller on the 10-day Injured List, retroactive to July 18, with a neck strain.

Duran will be in uniform and available for the Rangers’ road trip opener today in Miami.

Duran, 23, will be in his second stint with Texas this season, as he batted .258 (16-62) with 2 home runs and 8 RBI over 16 games for the Rangers in his first career Major League action spanning June 4-25. Since being optioned to Round Rock after the game on June 25, Duran has batted .295 (23-78) with 6 home runs, 5 doubles, and 17 RBI in 18 games for the Express in his first career Triple-A action. He hit safely in 9 straight games before the Triple-A All-Star break this week, batting .375 (15-40) with 4 home runs and 11 RBI during that hit streak. Duran hit 2 home runs in his last game for the Express on Sunday at El Paso. He began the season at Double-A Frisco, batting .317/.365/.574/.939 in 45 games.

Miller was scratched from the scheduled starting lineup on Saturday due to neck tightness, and went 0-for-3 with a walk as the designated hitter on Sunday vs. Seattle. He has batted .207 with 7 home runs and 29 RBI in 65 games for Texas this season. The first date he would be eligible to return is July 28.

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with two players (Mitch Garver and Eli White) on the 60-day Injured List.
