Devin Smeltzer optioned to Triple-A St. Paul
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Chris Archer from the 15-day Injured List.
Archer, who has missed the Twins’ last 13 games with left hip tightness, has gone 2-3 with a 3.08 ERA (61.1 IP, 21 ER), 30 walks, 47 strikeouts, a .208 opponent batting average and a 1.26 WHIP in 15 starts this season. He is scheduled to make the start in this afternoon’s series finale against the Chicago White Sox at Target Field.
To make room for Archer on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer to Triple-A St. Paul. Smeltzer went 4-2 with a 4.02 ERA (62.2 IP, 28 ER), 17 walks, 37 strikeouts, a .250 opponent batting average and a 1.21 WHIP in 12 starts across two stints with the Twins this season.
