San Jose is unbeaten in its last four home matches against Houston (W2 D2) dating back to 2017. The four-match run is San Jose’s longest home unbeaten run against the Dynamo in MLS play.
On Wednesday, San Jose defeated the Galaxy, 3-2, which was the club’s seventh game this season that had five or more combined goals. No other MLS team has more than five such games in 2022.
The Dynamo’s defeat at Austin on Tuesday was their fourth straight road loss and 14th loss in their last 17 away from home (W2 D1) dating back to last August. Houston has managed only one clean sheet in that time, but that came in its last visit to California, a 3-0 win at the Galaxy on May 22.
After his right-footed goal in San Jose’s 3-2 win over the Galaxy on Wednesday, Jeremy Ebobisse has now scored 10 goals with his right foot in MLS. Since 2019, Ebobisse is the only MLS player with double-digit goals with each of his right foot, his left foot and his head.
Three goals has been the magic number for the Dynamo on the road. Since the start of the 2018 season, Houston has won all seven away matches in which its scored at least three times, while its winless in the 63 matches in which its scored two or fewer (D14 L49).
