Columbus has lost only one of the first eight MLS editions of the Hell is Real Derby, winning four times (D3). After a 2-2 draw in August 2019, the Crew have won their last two home matches against Cincinnati, scoring three goals in each match.
The Crew’s 2-2 draw with D.C. United on Wednesday extended its unbeaten run to a season-best seven matches (W3 D4). Columbus hasn’t had a longer unbeaten run within a single season since going nine in a row without losing (W4 D5) in April-June 2018.
After its 2-2 draw with Vancouver on Wednesday, FC Cincinnati is unbeaten in its last six games (W1 D5), two longer than the club’s previous longest unbeaten streak in MLS. Cincinnati is the second MLS team this season (along with Philadelphia) to have a six-game unbeaten streak that featured at least five draws.
Cucho Hernández scored both of the Crew’s goals in their 2-2 draw with D.C. United on Wednesday, doing so as a substitute. Hernández has three goals in his first two MLS matches, both as a substitute. Only two other players in MLS history achieved that feat: Charlie Davies in 2011 and Alex Pineda Chacón in 2001.
Brenner delivered assists on both Cincinnati goals in the team’s Wednesday draw with the Whitecaps. Brenner has eight goal contributions (five goals, three assists) in his last seven games after being involved in just six goals (five goals, one assist) in his previous 28 league games.
