Rangers recall LHP Kolby Allard from Round Rock, option LHP John King to Round Rock

Allard will be available in bullpen for Wednesday night’s road trip finale in Baltimore

Baltimore, Md. — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard from Triple-A Round Rock and optioned left-handed pitcher John King to Round Rock.

Allard has gone 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA (9 ER/16.0 IP) and one save in 7 relief outings over three stints with the Rangers in 2022: Opening Day-April 30, May 11, and June 3-15. The left-hander has spent the balance of the season at Triple-A, going 1-1 with a 4.21 ERA (12 ER/25.2 IP) and 11 walks/33 strikeouts in 7 games/starts. Allard has made 2 starts for the Express since he was last optioned on June 16, going 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA (3 ER/9.1 IP) in those 2 outings with 4 walks against 14 strikeouts. He last pitched in a start on Friday at Las Vegas, earning the win: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R-ER, 2 BB, 8 SO, 1 HR, 78 pitches/52 strikes.

King is 1-3 with a 4.60 ERA (16 ER/31.1 IP) over 29 relief appearances for Texas this season, ranking 4th on the club in appearances. He has been on the Major League roster for the entire campaign.

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the Major League roster, along with two players (Jonathan Hernández and Eli White) on the 60-day Injured List.
