Tyler Thornburg designated for release or assignment
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Juan Minaya from Triple-A St. Paul.
Minaya, who will be making his second stint with the Twins (also, May 28-June 8), appeared in four games for Minnesota earlier this season, allowing six earned runs on six hits in 6.1 innings pitched, with five walks and seven strikeouts. The right-hander has appeared in 16 games for the Saints this season, going 0-2 with a 5.91 ERA (21.1 IP, 14 ER), 12 walks and 23 strikeouts.
To make room for Minaya on the 26-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Tyler Thornburg for release or assignment. Thornburg made five relief appearances for the Twins, going 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA (9.2 IP, 3 ER), six walks and four strikeouts.
