MLS Preview: Colorado Rapids (5-6-3) at New York City FC (8-3-2)

New York City FC hasn’t lost any of their five MLS matches against Colorado (W3 D2), including winning each of the last two games. NYCFC has won its two home meetings against the Rapids by a combined score of 9-1, recording wins of 5-1 and 4-0.

New York City FC has won seven of its last eight MLS matches (D1), including the last four in a row. NYCFC has had just one longer winning streak in club history, a five-match run in August-September 2019.

The Rapids are winless on the road this season, recording a draw and five losses in their first six away games of 2022. Going back to the end of last season, Colorado has won just two of its last 12 on the road (D2 L8).

New York City FC has kept clean sheets in each of its last six MLS matches, the fourth team in MLS history to do so and the firs since the Galaxy (6 straight) in 2009-10. There has been only one longer run of clean sheets in MLS history, a seven-match streak by the Dynamo in June-July 2007.

Diego Rubio has scored seven goals in 13 games this season, one shy of his total from the last two regular seasons combined (8 in 42 games). Rubio’s last three goals all came on direct set-piece situations (2 direct free-kicks, 1 penalty) after scoring just two goals from those situations in his career before.
