Players to watch:

OL Reign midfielder Jess Fishlock scored her first goal of the season with her only shot on goal on Sunday. Since the start of last year, Fishlock has scored with only one shot on target in the game three times, which is tied for the team lead with Bethany Balcer, the team’s leading goal scorer in that time.

Angel City forward Christen Press added two more regular season goal contributions to her tally with a goal and assist in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Louisville, her 93rd appearance. Among players with less than 100 regular season appearances, Press leads the league all-time with 58 goal contributions (47 goals, 11 assists), taking the outright lead ahead of Reign midfielder Megan Rapinoe (56 – 40 goals, 16 assists in 90 appearances).

Match facts:

OL Reign return home for the first time in three games as they face Angel City FC at Lumen Field in Seattle on Saturday night. The last time the Reign squared off at home, they defeated fellow Californian expansion side San Diego Wave, 1-0.

OL Reign have gone six straight games without scoring more than one goal, the team’s longest run of consecutive regular season games with no more than one goal since a string of eight games from July to August in 2019. The only other team this season with a streak of six such games, ironically, is Saturday’s opponents Angel City, which ended last Saturday.

The visiting Angel City has won every game in which it has scored this season (7 goals in 4 wins). The only other team in NWSL this season with a perfect record after scoring is Gotham FC (5 goals in 3 wins). A back and forth last month has seen the side take 10 points in six games (3W 1D 2L).

This will be OL Reign and Angel City’s first meeting in the regular season, but the two played twice in the Challenge Cup. The Reign won both meetings by a combined score of 5-2.
