Willians Astudillo recalled from Triple-A St. Paul
CHICAGO, IL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder/first baseman Alex Kirilloff on the 10-day Injured List with a right wrist ligament tear (retroactive to July 20) and is scheduled to have surgery later this week to repair the ligament (Dr. Thomas Graham).
Kirilloff has played in 59 games for the Twins this season, hitting .251 (54-for-215) with 11 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 34 RBI, 14 walks and a .722 OPS. Kirilloff spent time on the Injured List earlier this season (May 5-21) after injuring the same ligament in his right wrist.
To replace Kirilloff on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled catcher/infielder Willians Astudillo from Triple-A St. Paul. Astudillo hit .281 (25-for-89) with three doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and a .701 OPS in 22 games for the Saints after being optioned to Triple-A on June 19. In 41 games with the Twins earlier this season, he hit .254 (31-for-122) with four doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI and a .661 OPS.
