Dodgers recall Phil Bickford

LOS ANGELES –The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Phil Bickford and placed right-handed pitcher Craig Kimbrel on paternity leave.

Bickford, 26, has appeared in 17 games for the Dodgers this season, going 0-0 with a 3.45 ERA (6 ER/15.2 IP) and 13 strikeouts. In six minor league outings with Triple-A Oklahoma City, he has allowed five runs in 5.0 innings with six strikeouts. In parts of three Major League seasons with Milwaukee (2020-21) and Los Angeles (2021-22), he is a combined 4-2 with a 3.44 ERA (26 ER/68.0 IP) and 74 strikeouts. The Southern California native was originally drafted by the Giants with the 18th overall pick in the 2015 First Year Player Draft.

Kimbrel, 34, is 0-2 with 4.00 ERA (8 ER/18.0 IP) and 25 strikeouts, converting 11 of his 12 save opportunities. On May 16 against the Diamondbacks, he passed reliever Joe Nathan for eighth all-time on the Major League saves list when he converted his 378th save of his career. In 13 Major League seasons, he is a combined 35-31 with a 2.23 ERA (160 ER/646.1 IP) and 1,051 strikeouts, while converting 383 save chances. He is the active leader in saves and is 17 saves shy of becoming the seventh player in Major League history to record 400 career saves.
