Rangers recall LHP Kolby Allard from Triple-A Round Rock, option OF Zach Reks to Round Rock

Allard is available to pitch in tonight’s game vs. Kansas City

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard (#39) from Round Rock (AAA) and optioned outfielder Zach Reks to Round Rock.

Allard, 24, is available to pitch in tonight’s game against Kansas City at Globe Life Field. The left-hander went 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA (5 ER/7.0 IP) over 4 relief appearances during his first stint with Texas (Opening Day-April 30). Allard has made two starts for Round Rock since being optioned to the minors: May 3 at Reno (3.0 IP, 1 R, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 SO) and Sunday at Reno (L, 1.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R-ER, 2 BB, 2 SO). Allard has seen MLB action in each of the last five seasons with Atlanta (2018) and Texas (2019-22), compiling a 5.97 ERA over 59 games/25 starts.

Reks, 28, batted .286 (4-14) with 3 RBI in 6 games/3 starts for Texas after being recalled from Round Rock on April 30. He has spent the balance of this season at Triple-A with the Express, batting .283/.387/.415/.802 (15-53) with no home runs, 5 doubles, a triple, and 7 RBI over 16 games. Reks is in his first season with the Rangers since being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations on November 22, 2021.

With these transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the Major League roster, along with two players (Jonathan Hernández and José Leclerc) on the 60-day Injured List.
