Blue Bombers acquire defensive back Alden Darby in trade with Argonauts

WINNIPEG, MB., – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has acquired American defensive back Alden Darby from the Toronto Argonauts, in exchange for American offensive lineman Terry Poole.

Darby (5-11, 195, Arizona State; DOB: June 22, 1992 in Long Beach, CA) joins the Blue Bombers after three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts. Over 43 games with the Argos, including 40 starts, Darby registered 137 tackles, one sack, eight interceptions and three touchdowns. He had 56 tackles and five interceptions in 17 games with Toronto in 2019.

Darby appeared in 50 games over four seasons at Arizona State (2010-13) and was a two-time All-Pac 12 player. He was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and has also had stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts before he joined the Argos.
