Rangers activate RHP Jon Gray from 10-day injured list, RHP Greg Holland designated for assignment

Seattle, Wash. — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has activated right-handed pitcher Jon Gray from the 10-day Injured List. To make room on the roster for Gray, the team has designated right-handed pitcher Greg Holland for assignment.

Gray was placed on the 10-day Injured List on April 9 with a right middle finger blister that hampered him during his Rangers debut on Opening Day, April 8 at Toronto. Today was the first date that Gray was eligible to return to the active roster. He took no decision in his lone start this season, facing the minimum through 3.0 innings before permitting 3 runs in his 4th and final inning. He is the Rangers’ scheduled starting pitcher for Tuesday night’s series opener against the Mariners in Seattle.

Holland has allowed 5 runs (4 earned runs) over 4.2 innings spanning 5 relief appearances for Texas this season after making the Opening Day roster as a non-roster invitee.
