Twins select contract of Kyle Garlick

Dereck Rodríguez designated for release or assignment

BOSTON, MA – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Kyle Garlick from Triple-A St. Paul.

Garlick, who was reassigned to St. Paul from Twins spring training on April 7, played in four games for the Saints, hitting .231 (3-for-13) with one triple, one home run, four RBI, two runs scored, four walks and a .412 on-base percentage. The 30-year-old played in 36 games for the Twins last season, hitting .232 (23-for-99) with eight doubles, five home runs, 10 RBI, 17 runs scored and a .745 OPS.

To make room on the 28-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Dereck Rodríguez for release or assignment. Rodríguez appeared in relief on Wednesday afternoon against the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing three runs on four hits in 4.0 innings pitched, with three walks and two strikeouts.
