OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s placed designated hitter Mitch Moreland on the injured list and reinstated outfielder Stephen Piscotty from the 10-day IL, the club announced today.
Moreland was hitting .238 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 57 games with Oakland. He missed 11 games while on the injured list from May 15-26 with a rib injury. Moreland has started 40 games at designated hitter and is also 4-for-11 (.364) with two RBI as a pinch hitter.
Piscotty was batting .217 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 50 games when he was placed on the 10-day injured list June 19 retroactive to June 17 with a sprained left wrist. He was 9-for-27 (.333) over his final 12 games before going on the IL. Piscotty had a one-game rehab assignment with Low-A Stockton and went 0-for-4 in a start in right field yesterday against San Jose.
