Flames’ Backlund Fined for Cross-Checking

NEW YORK – Calgary Flames forward Mikael Backlund has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny during NHL Game No. 236 in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Nov. 16, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 11:53 of the first period. Backlund was assessed a minor penalty for boarding.

 

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
