Earlier today, the Yankees claimed OF Taylor Trammell off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trammell, 26, appeared in five games with the Dodgers in 2024. He spent all of spring training in the Mariners organization before being designated for assignment on March 28. Trammell was then claimed off waivers by Los Angeles-NL on April 2.

Over parts of four Major League seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2021-23) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2024), the left-handed batter has hit .165 (51-for-310) with 45R, 16 doubles, 15HR, 39RBI, 39BB and 4SB in 121 career games. Trammell has appeared defensively at all three outfield positions in his career (center field – 45 games/38 starts, right field – 35 games/29 starts, left field – 30 games/24 starts).

The Powder Springs, Ga., native was originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in Competitive Balance Round A (35th overall) of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft. Trammell was acquired by the San Diego Padres from Cincinnati in a three-team trade that also included Cleveland on July 31, 2019. Cleveland acquired OF Franmil Reyes, LHP Logan Allen and INF Victor Nova from San Diego. Additionally, Cincinnati acquired RHP Trevor Bauer from Cleveland, while Cleveland acquired OF Yasiel Puig and LHP Scott Moss from Cincinnati. Trammell was then acquired by Seattle from San Diego along with INF Ty France, RHP Andres Muñoz and C Luis Torrens in exchange for C Austin Nola, RHP Austin Adams and RHP Dan Altavilla on August 30, 2020.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees have designated INF Kevin Smith for assignment.
