The World Series of Poker Circuit will return to Latin America in 2026 with a tour stop in Montevideo, marking the series’ first visit to the region in several years. The event is scheduled for May 18–25, 2026, at Casino Carrasco, one of Uruguay’s premier gaming venues.
GGPoker will run exclusive online satellite tournaments ahead of the series, giving players across the region a chance to qualify for the stop at a fraction of the cost.
Twelve Gold Ring Events Planned
The Montevideo stop will feature 12 official WSOP Circuit ring events, along with a full slate of side tournaments, VIP experiences and international media coverage. Organizers say the return of the Circuit to Latin America underscores the region’s growing presence in the global poker landscape.
Casino Carrasco, set along Montevideo’s scenic waterfront, offers modern amenities and a high‑end tournament environment. Juan Carreño, GGPoker’s head of Spanish Latin America, said the stop gives regional players “a rare opportunity to experience a top‑tier poker festival close to home.”
The WSOP brand has seen rapid growth in recent years, including a record $60 million prize pool at a recent series.
Why Montevideo Matters
Montevideo’s mix of culture, coastal setting and established gaming infrastructure makes it an attractive destination for both players and fans. The event is expected to draw competitors from across South America and beyond, further elevating the region’s profile in live poker.
Interest in both online and live poker has surged across Latin America, driven by expanding platforms, increased tournament offerings and a steady flow of international events.
Online Satellites and Expanded Access
GGPoker has launched a full schedule of online satellites running March 30–May 10, 2026, offering a range of buy‑ins and formats. The qualifiers are designed to make the Montevideo stop accessible to players of all bankroll levels.
The operator also noted that its Olive Branch Initiative, launched last fall, allows previously banned players to apply for reinstatement — potentially expanding the pool of eligible participants for the 2026 event.
