WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced the signing of veteran American defensive end James Vaughters to a one-year contract.

Vaughters, who stands 6-1 and weighs 256 pounds, was born on June 27, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois. He joins the Blue Bombers after spending the last two years with the Calgary Stampeders, from which he was released on January 27, 2025.
In the 2024 season, Vaughters played all 18 games for the Stampeders, recording 32 tackles, five sacks (tying for second on the team), and two forced fumbles. During the 2023 season, he registered five sacks in six games before a season-ending arm injury.
Vaughters first joined the Stampeders in 2017. Over his two stints with the team (2017-18 and 2023-24), he appeared in 57 games, amassing 97 tackles, 21 sacks, and three forced fumbles.
Following his initial stint with Calgary, Vaughters signed with the NFL’s Chicago Bears. He played in 17 games over two seasons with the Bears through 2020 and appeared in 10 games with the Atlanta Falcons in 2021.
During his college career at Stanford University (2011-14), Vaughters played as a linebacker, appearing in 54 games with 18 starts.
