WINNIPEG, MB., – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced the signing of veteran Canadian long-snapper Mike Benson to a one-year contract.

Benson (5-9, 245; Acadia; born May 13, 1987, in Winnipeg, MB) returns to the Blue Bombers for his fifth season after initially joining the team in 2021.
Over his career, including his time with Edmonton (2012), B.C. (2014-18), Ottawa (2019), and Winnipeg (2021-present), Benson has played in 157 regular-season games. He was a key part of the Blue Bombers’ 2021 Grey Cup championship team.
Benson continued to play a crucial role in the Blue Bombers’ kicking battery in 2024, contributing to the solid seasons of both punter Jamieson Sheahan and placekicker Sergio Castillo.
A product of St. Paul’s High School, the Winnipeg native played for the Winnipeg Rifles before attending Acadia University.
The Blue Bombers are pleased to have Benson back for another season and look forward to his contributions on the field.
