The Virginia Lottery has published its latest report detailing sports wagering activity from licensed operators for March 2025.
During the period of March 1-31, bettors across Virginia placed $689,665,044 in wagers, marking an 8.5% increase compared to March of last year. The state’s approved operators list, available under the “approvals” tab, includes fourteen mobile platforms and three casinos authorized to accept sports bets.
Virginia players collectively won $638,986,760, leading to a 7.35% operator win percentage for the month.
Under state law, sports betting revenue is subject to a 15% tax, calculated from each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue (AGR)—defined as total wagers minus winnings and other authorized deductions.
Of the total tax revenue collected, 97.5% is allocated to the state’s General Fund, while 2.5% is directed toward the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, which is managed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
