The Virginia Lottery has unveiled its April 2025 sports wagering report, showcasing betting trends from licensed operators across the state.
During the period of 1-30 April 2025, Virginians placed wagers totaling $609,713,988, reflecting an 8.2% increase compared to April of the previous year. Throughout the month, fourteen mobile operators and three casinos were authorized to accept bets in Virginia.

As stipulated by state law, a 15% tax is applied to adjusted gross revenue (AGR)—defined as total wagers minus winnings and allowable deductions.
Under Virginia’s sports betting tax structure:
- 97.5% of tax revenue is allocated to the state’s General Fund.
- 2.5% supports the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, managed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
A total of eleven operators reported a net positive AGR for April, resulting in $8.5 million in tax contributions for the month.
