RICHMOND, Va. – Virginians wagered more than $613 million on sports in April, according to monthly figures released Friday by the Virginia Lottery.
From April 1–30, licensed operators reported $613,893,171 in total wagers. Twelve mobile sportsbooks and three casinos were authorized to take bets during the month.
Bettors won $544,221,579, giving operators an 11.35% win rate, the Lottery said.
Virginia taxes sports betting at 15% of adjusted gross revenue, defined as total wagers minus winnings and allowable deductions. State law directs 97.5% of tax revenue to the General Fund and 2.5% to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, which is administered by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
