The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed RHP Emmanuel Ramírez off waivers from the Miami Marlins. Ramírez has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

Additionally, RHP Jose Cuas has been designated for assignment.

Ramírez, 30, has appeared in 40 games between Miami and their Triple-A affiliate in Jacksonville this season, going 4-3 with a 4.84 ERA, a 9.3% walk rate, and a 27.8% strikeout rate. The 6-2, 190 lb. right-handed reliever was signed by the San Diego Padres in 2012, eventually making his MLB debut with the Marlins earlier this season. The Puerto Plata, D.R., native has made a total of 240 Minor League appearances (79 starts), posting a 4.51 ERA over 710.0 innings with 770 strikeouts and a 1.34 WHIP.
