The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed C Nick Raposo off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals. Raposo has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

Additionally, RHP Paolo Espino has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

Raposo, 26, has appeared in 58 games for the Cardinals’ Triple-A squad in Memphis, hitting .193 with 16 extra-base hits and 28 RBI while posting a .994 fielding percentage behind the plate. The 5-9, 210 lb. right-handed hitter was signed by St. Louis as an undrafted free agent in 2020 after playing four seasons at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. Over the course of 199 career Minor League games, the Providence, RI, native has batted .240 with 38 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs, and 87 RBI.
