TORONTO – The Toronto Argonauts have signed American quarterback Paxton DeLaurent, the team announced on Monday.
DeLaurent played 17 games for the Orlando Pirates of the Indoor Football League in 2026, throwing for 3,142 yards and 64 touchdowns while being named IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The pivot finished the season first in completions (289), completion percentage (70.5 per cent), and second in yards and touchdowns.
Before joining Orlando, DeLaurent attended rookie minicamp with the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs in 2025. The former Southeast Missouri State signal-caller (2022-2024) left the school as the team’s all-time leader in passing with 8,563 yards and 63 touchdowns in 30 games for the RedHawks.
The Camdenton, Missouri native was named Big South – Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2024 after passing for 4,087 yards and 33 touchdowns across 13 games. DeLaurent started his collegiate career at Central Methodist from 2020-2021.
