The New York Yankees announced today that they have acquired left‑handed pitcher Ryan Weathers from the Miami Marlins in exchange for minor league outfielders Dillon Lewis and Brendan Jones, along with minor league infielders Dylan Jasso and Juan Matheus.

Weathers, 26, appeared in eight games for Miami in 2025, posting a 2–2 record with a 3.99 ERA (38.1 IP, 37 H, 20 R/17 ER, 12 BB, 37 K, 7 HR). His season was interrupted by two injured list stints: a left flexor strain that sidelined him from March 27 (retroactive to March 24) through May 14, and a left lat strain that placed him on the 60‑day IL from June 9 through September 11.

Across the 2024–25 seasons, the southpaw recorded a combined 7–8 mark with a 3.74 ERA (125.0 IP, 115 H, 59 R/52 ER, 36 BB, 117 K, 18 HR) over 24 starts, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 19 of those outings.

Over parts of five Major League seasons with the San Diego Padres (2021–23) and Miami Marlins (2023–25), Weathers has made 70 appearances (55 starts), going 12–23 with one save and a 4.93 ERA (281.0 IP, 290 H, 164 R/154 ER, 99 BB, 235 K, 50 HR). Since 2021, his 17 pickoffs rank tied for fourth‑most in the Majors.

Weathers made his Major League debut at just 20 years and 294 days old, appearing in Game 1 of the 2020 NLDS at Los Angeles‑NL. He is one of only six players in MLB history to debut in the postseason and the second‑youngest ever to do so, behind Kansas City’s Adalberto Mondesi (20 years, 95 days in 2015).
