Ahead of Wednesday night’s series finale against the Oakland Athletics, the Texas Rangers have made the following roster moves:
- RHP Jon Gray has been activated from the 60-day injured list.
- RHP Luke Jackson has been designated for assignment.
Jon Gray Returns to Rotation
Jon Gray, 33, is set to make his 2025 season debut after missing the club’s first 102 games due to a right forearm fracture sustained during spring training. The injury occurred on March 14 when Gray was struck by a comebacker off Michael Toglia in a Cactus League contest.
Gray completed three rehab starts—two for Triple-A Round Rock and one for the ACL Rangers—totaling 8.2 innings, 3 earned runs, and a 3.12 ERA. His most recent outing came Saturday in Las Vegas, tossing 3.2 innings, allowing one earned run and striking out five on 61 pitches.
Since joining Texas in 2022, Gray has posted a 21–21 record, 4.16 ERA, and 362 strikeouts across 76 games (72 starts). A former third overall pick by Colorado in the 2013 MLB Draft out of the University of Oklahoma, Gray reached 10 years of MLB service earlier this week. His career totals include a 74–70 record and 4.45 ERA over 228 games/223 starts for Colorado and Texas.
Luke Jackson Designated
Luke Jackson, 33, has been designated for assignment after making 39 relief appearances for Texas in 2025. The veteran right-hander compiled a 2–5 record, 4.11 ERA, 9 saves, and 24 strikeouts over 35.0 innings, with his final outing coming Tuesday night against Oakland (1.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 12 pitches).
Jackson’s MLB career spans 377 games, all in relief, with a 24–16 record, 4.23 ERA, and stints with Texas (2015–16, 2025), Atlanta (2017–21, 2024), and San Francisco (2023–24). He was originally selected by the Orioles in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Howard College (TX).
