Boston, MA – The Texas Rangers have announced the recall of Ezequiel Duran from Triple-A Round Rock, filling the 26-man roster spot left vacant by Kevin Pillar, who was placed on the 10-day Injured List (retroactive to May 4) due to lower back inflammation before Wednesday’s game against Boston.

Duran, who will turn 26 on May 22, is making his third stint with the Rangers this season (previously with the team Opening Day-April 7, April 9-19). Since being optioned to Round Rock on April 20, he has posted an impressive .345 batting average (19-for-55), with 4 home runs, 6 doubles, 4 RBI, 4 walks, 13 runs scored, and a 1.063 OPS in 14 games. He currently ranks among the Pacific Coast League leaders in home runs (T-3rd), runs (4th), OPS (6th), and doubles (T-6th) since April 22 (minimum 50 plate appearances). Defensively, he has made 10 starts at shortstop and 4 starts at third base, successfully converting all 38 total chances in the field.

The Dominican Republic native was part of the Rangers’ Opening Day roster for the third consecutive season. So far in 2025, he has played in seven games for Texas, appearing at third base (3 games/2 starts), first base (1 game/start), shortstop (1 game), second base (1 game), and even pitching (1 game). Offensively, he has struggled, going 0-for-14 with one RBI and 4 strikeouts. Over his four-season MLB career with Texas (2022-2025), Duran has hit .253 with 22 home runs and 92 RBI across 279 games.

With this roster move, the Rangers now have 39 players on their Major League roster, alongside three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) on the 60-day Injured List.
