Rocker Set to Start Against Chicago-AL in Series Finale

ARLINGTON, TX – The Texas Rangers have made roster adjustments ahead of Sunday’s matchup against Chicago-AL at Globe Life Field, placing right-hander Tyler Mahle on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to June 12) due to right shoulder fatigue and recalling RHP Kumar Rocker from Triple-A Round Rock.

Mahle’s 2025 Season & Injury Status

Mahle, 30, has made 14 starts this season, posting a 6-3 record with a 2.34 ERA (20 ER/77.0 IP), 56 strikeouts, and 27 walks. He ranks third in the AL in home runs allowed per nine innings (0.47 HR/9.0 IP) and eighth in opponent OPS (.579). His most recent outing came on June 10 at Minnesota, where he logged 5.2 innings in a 16-4 Rangers win (10 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1 HR, 91 pitches/60 strikes). Across nine MLB seasons, Mahle holds a 39-45 career record with a 4.11 ERA (246 ER/502.1 IP) while playing for Cincinnati, Minnesota, and Texas.

Rocker’s Return to MLB

Rocker, 25, returns to the Rangers’ rotation after spending time at Triple-A. He has gone 1-4 with an 8.87 ERA (23 ER/23.1 IP) in six starts for Texas this season. Rocker made the Opening Day roster, starting five games from March 31 to April 23 before landing on the 15-day IL on April 24 with a right shoulder impingement. Activated on June 4, he started against Tampa Bay that night before being optioned back to Round Rock. His latest minor league appearance came on June 10 vs. El Paso, where he pitched 4.0 innings, allowing 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts.

Career & Development

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Rocker made his MLB debut for Texas in September 2024 and has compiled a 1-6 career record with a 7.20 ERA (28 ER/35.0 IP) in nine starts. He earned his first MLB win on April 17 vs. Los Angeles-AL, pitching 7.0 innings with three runs allowed in a 5-3 Rangers victory. A former third-overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, Rocker is in his third season with the organization, having logged a 2-3 record and 2.50 ERA (21 ER/75.2 IP) across 19 minor league games (18 starts) since 2023.
