ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers made the following roster moves ahead of Saturday’s tilt against the Cleveland Guardians at Globe Life Field:

  • Placed second baseman Marcus Semien on the 10-day Injured List (left foot contusion), retroactive to August 22.
  • Activated outfielder Adolis García from the 10-day Injured List.

Semien suffered a contusion to his left foot after fouling a pitch off the bone during his first-inning plate appearance in Thursday’s game at Kansas City. He was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the top of the third. This marks just the second IL stint of Semien’s 13-year career (he also missed time with a right wrist contusion in 2017). Prior to today, he had started 127 of Texas’s 130 games this season and 609 of the club’s 616 games since 2022—the second-most starts in MLB over that span.

The 34-year-old Semien is batting .230/.305/.364 (.669 OPS) with 15 homers, 16 doubles, one triple, 62 RBI, 50 walks and a team-high 62 runs scored across 127 games this year, all at second base. Since signing his seven-year deal before 2022, he leads the Rangers in games (609), hits (610), triples (12), walks (239), runs (386) and total bases (1,027).

García returns after a minimum-length stay on the IL for a left ankle sprain (Aug. 13–22), his only absence from the active roster in two seasons. The 32-year-old outfielder skipped a rehab assignment, instead taking live BP Friday at Globe Life. In 116 games this year—his sixth with Texas—he’s slashed .224/.266/.388 (.654 OPS) with 16 homers, 24 doubles, 64 RBI and 46 runs, leading the club in doubles, RBI and extra-base hits (40).
