Texas Rangers Activate RHP Kumar Rocker, Option RHP Codi Heuer to Triple-A Round Rock

Tampa, Fla. – The Texas Rangers announced key roster moves ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Steinbrenner Field.

Transaction Summary:

  • RHP Kumar Rocker (rhymes with “Lamar”) has been activated from the 15-day Injured List.
  • RHP Codi Heuer has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Kumar Rocker’s Return from Injury

Rocker, 25, missed 37 games due to a right shoulder impingement. The right-hander made two rehab starts between May 23-29, totaling 7.0 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts, 2 hits allowed, and one walk.

  • On May 30, Rocker pitched for Triple-A Round Rock vs. Reno, retiring the first 12 batters over 4 perfect innings before issuing a walk in the fifth (4.0+ IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 5 SO, 53 pitches/35 strikes).
  • On May 23, he appeared for Double-A Frisco vs. Midland, delivering 3.0 scoreless frames (2 H, 0 BB, 3 SO, 34 pitches/23 strikes).

So far in five Major League starts this season, Rocker has posted a 1-3 record with an 8.10 ERA (18 ER/20.0 IP), 16 strikeouts, and 5 walks. Over his eight career MLB starts, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound pitcher owns a 1-5 record, 6.54 ERA (23 ER/31.2 IP), and 30 strikeouts. A first-round pick by Texas in 2022, Rocker starred at Vanderbilt University (2019-21) and was a finalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy in 2021.

Codi Heuer Returns to Triple-A

Heuer, 28, made his first MLB appearance since September 29, 2021, after being selected from Triple-A Round Rock last Sunday. On Tuesday vs. Tampa Bay, he pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit with one strikeout and a solo home run (20 pitches/16 strikes).

Heuer has appeared in 87 MLB relief games, posting a 10-4 record, 3.61 ERA (37 ER/92.1 IP) across stints with Chicago White Sox (2020-21), Chicago Cubs (2021), and Texas (2025).

Roster Updates

Following these transactions, the Rangers maintain a full 40-man roster, with three players (Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz) remaining on the 60-day Injured List.

Rocker is scheduled to start tonight’s game in Tampa, marking his return to the big-league rotation.
