Tampa Bay Rays exercise 2025 club option for Brandon Lowe

The Tampa Bay Rays have announced they are exercising their $10.5 million club option on infielder Brandon Lowe for the 2025 season. Lowe and the Rays initially agreed to a six-year contract extension on March 20, 2019, which included club options for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

“We are appreciative of all of Brandon’s achievements on and off the field during his time with the Rays,” said President of Baseball Operations Erik Neander. “Since debuting in 2018, his productivity at second base has been among the league’s best, and we look forward to his continued success with us next season.”

Lowe, 30, posted a .244/.311/.473 slash line last season, with 19 doubles, three triples, 21 home runs, and 58 RBIs over 107 games. He led the team in home runs, runs (56), slugging percentage, and OPS (.784).

Throughout the 2024 campaign, Lowe ranked among the franchise leaders in several categories (minimum 1,500 plate appearances): home runs (4th with 126), slugging percentage (4th at .482), OPS (6th at .812), hit by pitches (6th with 34), RBIs (7th with 363), extra-base hits (8th with 245), runs (9th with 336), and total bases (9th with 1,036). His 441 starts at second base are second in team history, only behind Ben Zobrist’s 485.

Lowe’s six years and 58 days of major league service time with Tampa Bay rank ninth most in franchise history, following Evan Longoria (9 years, 170 days), Kevin Kiermaier (8 years, 131 days), Carl Crawford (8 years, 72 days), Ben Zobrist (7 years, 134 days), B.J. Upton (6 years, 126 days), James Shields (6 years, 125 days), Chris Archer (6 years, 109 days), and Alex Cobb (6 years, 61 days).
