ST. LOUIS, MO., –

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Roddery Muñoz off waivers from the Miami Marlins.

Muñoz, 24, debuted in the majors this season, making 18 appearances (17 as a starter) with a 2-7 record over 82.0 innings pitched. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound pitcher also played in 12 games (8 starts) with Triple-A Jacksonville in 2024, posting a 4-4 record with a 4.96 ERA.

Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Muñoz was signed by the Atlanta Braves as an international free agent in 2018. He was later claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals in July 2023 and the Pittsburgh Pirates in December 2023. Muñoz was traded to the Marlins on December 20, 2023, and made his Major League debut on April 20, 2024, against the Chicago Cubs.

In his 17 starts, Muñoz pitched 5.0 or more innings nine times, with his standout performance occurring on June 13 against the New York Mets, where he threw 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
