Tampa Bay Rays add Outfielder Jake Mangum To 40-man Roster

The Tampa Bay Rays have added outfielder Jake Mangum to their 40-man roster. To make room, left-handed pitcher Richard Lovelady has been designated for assignment.

Jake Mangum: Mangum, 28, had a stellar season with Triple-A Durham, hitting .317/.358/.442 with 30 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 56 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases over 104 games. He became the first Bull to win the International League batting title since Jake Cronenworth in 2019 and was one of only five players in all of Triple-A to record 30+ doubles and 20+ steals.

Mangum was acquired from the Miami Marlins on December 8, 2023, as the player to be named later in a trade that also included infielder Erick Lara and right-handed pitcher Andrew Lindsey, in exchange for infielder Vidal Bruján and right-handed pitcher Calvin Faucher.

Richard Lovelady: Lovelady, 29, was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on May 18, 2024, in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jeff Belge. He posted a 3-5 record with a 3.77 ERA and two saves over 28.2 innings in 28 appearances for the Rays.

After this transaction, the Rays’ 40-man roster now includes Jake Mangum.
