The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired infielder Gregory Barrios from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Aaron Civale.

Barrios, 20, hit .325 (75-for-231) with 17 doubles, two triples, one home run, 34 RBI and 18 steals in 61 games for Class-A Wisconsin. Barrios ranked among the Midwest League in batting average (1st), doubles (T3rd) and hits (7th). He was named Midwest League Player of the Week for the week of April 15-21 after going 13-for-18 (.722) with six doubles and 8 RBI in five games. He will report to Class-A Bowling Green.

The Maracay, Venezuela native was signed by the Brewers as a non-drafted free agent on January 15, 2021, beginning his professional with the Dominican Summer League Brewers 1 later that season. He spent the 2022 season with the Arizona Complex League Brewers 1 and the 2023 campaign with Class-A Carolina. He is rated by MLB.com as Milwaukee’s No. 21 prospect, while Baseball America tabs him as the Brewers No. 26 prospect.

Civale, 29, was acquired by the Rays from the Guardians on July 31, 2023 in exchange for infielder Kyle Manzardo. He went 4-9 with a 5.17 ERA (132.1IP, 76ER) in 27 starts for Tampa Bay.
