TAMPA BAY — The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Jakob Pelletier to a three-year contract, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today. The deal is structured as a two-way contract for the 2025-26 season, transitioning to a one-way contract for the final two years.

Pelletier, 24, split the 2024-25 season between the Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers, appearing in 49 NHL games and tallying seven goals and 19 points. He also suited up for 20 games with the Calgary Wranglers of the AHL, where he posted three goals and 19 points with a +7 rating.

A native of Quebec City, Pelletier made his NHL debut on January 21, 2023, against the Lightning and scored his first career goal on February 11, 2023, versus the Buffalo Sabres. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound winger has played in 86 career NHL games, recording 11 goals and 29 points, including three game-winners.

In the AHL, Pelletier has been a standout performer, amassing 51 goals and 130 points in 139 games with Calgary and the Stockton Heat. He owns a +32 career rating and has scored 18 power-play goals. In 28 Calder Cup Playoff games, he’s added nine goals and 20 points on 65 shots. His breakout rookie season in 2021-22 earned him a spot on the AHL All-Rookie Team, thanks to 27 goals and 62 points in 66 games with Stockton.

Before turning pro, Pelletier starred in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats and Val-d’Or Foreurs, compiling 107 goals and 275 points in 210 games, along with a stellar +114 rating. He captained both Moncton (2019-20) and Val-d’Or (2020-21), and was recognized with several honors, including:

  • QMJHL All-Rookie Team (2018)
  • Frank J. Selke Trophy (2020)
  • First All-Star Team (2021)

Internationally, Pelletier has represented Team Canada at multiple levels. He notched two assists at the 2019 IIHF U18 World Championship and helped Canada earn a silver medal at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, contributing three goals and seven points in seven games.

Originally selected 26th overall by Calgary in the 2019 NHL Draft, Pelletier brings skill, leadership, and a proven scoring touch to the Lightning organization as he enters the next chapter of his career.
