Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority posts CA$146M in net income as PlayNow.com and casino performance fuel third straight year of growth
Saskatchewan – The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) has announced its highest-ever net income, reporting CA$146 million for the 2024–2025 fiscal year, according to its recently published annual report. Total gross revenue reached CA$378 million, marking a third consecutive year of record-setting profits.
Founded in 1996, SIGA operates seven casinos across Saskatchewan, each offering a mix of slot machines, live and electronic table games, entertainment venues, and dining options. These include Dakota Dunes Casino, Bear Claw Casino & Hotel, Painted Hand Casino, Gold Horse Casino, Northern Lights Casino, Living Sky Casino, and Gold Eagle Casino. SIGA also manages PlayNow.com, Saskatchewan’s only legal online gaming and sports betting platform.
Strength Through Diversification and Digital Growth
The surge in profitability is attributed to strong performance both from in-person casino operations and the continued rise of digital wagering via PlayNow.com. “SIGA has successfully built itself back to strength post-pandemic,” said President & CEO Zane Hansen. “We’re making targeted investments into PlayNow.com and modernizing our land-based casinos to maintain our position as Saskatchewan’s premier entertainment provider.”
Community-First Revenue Distribution
As mandated by Saskatchewan’s gaming revenue structure:
- 50% of net profits are allocated to the First Nations Trust, benefiting all 74 First Nations in the province;
- 25% goes to Community Development Corporations (CDCs), reinvested into local economic and cultural initiatives;
- The remaining 25% is directed to the province’s General Revenue Fund.
Unlike Ontario (and soon Alberta), where multiple private operators compete online, PlayNow.com remains Saskatchewan’s sole legal digital gaming portal, ensuring a consolidated revenue stream that maximizes public benefit.
Casino Expansion in Progress
SIGA is also reinvesting in its physical properties:
- Dakota Dunes Casino is planning a 12,000-square-foot expansion to enhance gaming and hospitality offerings;
- Northern Lights Casino is undertaking a 30,000-square-foot expansion to support increased visitation and entertainment capacity.
With year-over-year growth, renewed digital momentum, and community-focused reinvestment, SIGA is poised to continue shaping Saskatchewan’s gaming landscape—and delivering returns where they matter most.
