RENTON, WASH. Seattle Reign FC has announced the signing of homegrown goalkeeper Neeku Purcell on a short-term contract as a goalkeeper replacement player. The move follows Cassie Miller’s placement on the 45-day injury list after sustaining a leg injury during training.

Neeku Purcell Joins Seattle Reign FC

Purcell, 21, arrives from Brooklyn FC of the USL Super League, where she made 16 starts in 17 appearances and recorded four clean sheets during the league’s inaugural season.

Before turning professional, the Seattle native played at UCLA, allowing just 13 goals in 27 appearances while registering 33 saves. She previously developed at Seattle Reign Academy, serving as team captain since 2016.

Reign FC General Manager Lesle Gallimore praised Purcell’s arrival:

“Neeku’s progression has been outstanding, and this is a proud milestone for both her and the club. She will provide crucial depth with Cassie sidelined, and we have full confidence in her ability to contribute immediately.”

Cassie Miller Moves to Injury List

Miller, 29, suffered a leg injury during training and is now on the 45-day injured list. She has been an integral part of Seattle’s goalkeeper rotation, bringing experience and leadership to the squad.

A Rising Talent with International Experience

Purcell was recently called into the U.S. Women’s National Team 2025 Futures Camp in January and has represented the United States at the U-15, U-17, U-20, and U-23 levels. She played a key role in the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, securing four shutouts, including clean sheets in the semifinal and final matches.

Seattle Reign Academy Executive Director Amy Griffin reflected on Purcell’s journey:

“Neeku’s commitment to her development and the club culture has been exceptional. She’s a dynamic goalkeeper with sharp instincts and leadership ability.”

Seattle Reign FC looks forward to Purcell stepping into the first-team roster, bringing her strong presence and evolving game to the club.
