INF Will Wilson placed on 10-day Injured List

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

  • Jhonny Pereda (#5), C, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
  • Will Wilson, INF, placed on 10-day Injured List (retroactive to April 30, fractured left thumb).

Pereda, (per-AY-duh) 30, has appeared in 23 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, batting .333 (26×78) with 15 runs, 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 8 RBI. He has a .418 on-base percentage, slugging .436 for an .853 OPS. He has appeared in 21 games at catcher and 2 as the designated hitter.

Pereda was acquired by the Mariners on January 27, 2026 from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for cash considerations. Pereda has appeared in parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Marlins (2024), Athletics (2025) and Twins (2025), batting .241 (26×108) with 6 doubles and 8 RBI in 48 Major League games. Pereda has also pitched in 4 MLB games recording 3 strikeouts, including striking out 4-time MVP Shohei Ohtani.

Pereda, who was born in San Juan, Venezuela, has had a 13-year professional career in the Cubs (2013-19), Red Sox (2021), Giants (2022), Reds (2023), Marlins (2024), Athletics (2025) and Twins (2025) organizations. He was originally signed by the Chicago Cubs on April 1, 2013.

Wilson, 27, appeared in 2 games with Seattle, batting .200 (1×5) with 1 home run and 2 RBI. He hit his first career home run in his first plate appearance with the Mariners. In 14 games with Triple-A Tacoma this year, Wilson is batting .275 (11×40) with 4 runs, 2 doubles, 1 homer, 4 RBI and 7 walks with a .783 OPS. The right-handed hitting infielder has also appeared in 34 Major League games with Cleveland in 2025, batting .192 (15×78).

The North Carolina native was originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 1st round (15th overall) of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He was traded by the Angels to the Giants on Dec. 10, 2019 in a deal that involved infielder Zack Cozart, and selected by Cleveland in the 2024 Rule 5 Draft from San Francisco.
