The Mariners 40-man roster is now at 40 players

HOUSTON – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today that the Mariners have claimed right-handed pitcher Troy Watson off waivers from the Tigers.

The Mariners 40-man roster is now full.

Watson, 29, will report to Triple-A Tacoma. In 21 games (12 starts) in the Tigers minor league organization this season, he is 4-3 and 2.89 ERA (21 ER, 65.1 IP) with 18 walks, 46 strikeouts and 1 save.

The Gunter, TX native was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Northern Colorado. He been a part of 8 minor league seasons with Toronto (2018-2024) and Detroit (2024-206), going 27-27 and a 3.86 ERA (198 ER, 461.2 IP) with 207 walks, 389 strikeouts and 10 saves in 182 games (71 starts).
