The San Diego Padres have acquired outfielder Brandon Lockridge from the New York Yankees in exchange for right-handed pitchers Enyel De Los Santos and Thomas Balboni Jr., President of Baseball Operations and General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.
In 72 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre this season, Lockridge batted .295 (64-for-217) with a .405 OBP, 15 doubles, two triples, 32 RBI, 34 stolen bases and 39 walks. At the time of the trade, the 27-year-old led all International League players in stolen bases while only being caught four times in 38 attempts. He is batting .453 (24-for-53) with RISP this season, and despite missing two weeks on the IL in early June, Lockridge is hitting .342 (53-for-155) since May 1st.
Over six minor league seasons with the Yankees (2018-24), Lockridge has posted a .267 average (479-for-1793) with 103 doubles, 17 triples, 43 home runs, 219 RBI and 135 stolen bases. He was originally selected by the Yankees in the 5th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Troy University (Ala.).
